They succeeded in this by using a tough as nails Nylon Composite body. It still has a fully sealed and ultra smooth bearing system with cartridge bearings and DU bushings in each pedal. It’s fully serviceable. has a Cr-Mo axle and is thin and light at just 360g.

Dimensions and Weight: 101 x 110mm concave platform that is 18.4mm thick. 180g per pedal. 360g per set.
Bearings: Sealed outboard bearing combined with a sealed inboard bushing.
Pin Quantity: 8 replaceable hex nutted pins on each side. 16 per pedal. The pins load in from the bottom. so they can always be removed.
Materials: Nylon composite body. A strong Cr-Mo steel 9/16″ axle. Heat treated steel pins.
